ENetSuD Issues Pre-Action Notice to Kwara State SUBEB Over Planned Recruitment
The Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) has issued a one-month pre-action notice to the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), warning them to halt the proposed recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff into public schools funded by the 16 Local Government Councils (LGs) or face legal consequences.
According to sources, the Director of Legal Services at ENetSuD, Lukman Raji, issued the notice from his law firm, Lukman Raji and Co, citing that the planned 1,611 teaching and non-teaching staff by the Kwara State Government (KWSG) violates the autonomy recently granted to all 774 LGs in Nigeria, including the 16 LGs in Kwara State, where the election process is currently underway.
ENetSuD believes that the recruitment process infringes upon the autonomy granted to the LGs and undermines the democratic principles of local governance.
The organization has urged the KWSG to respect the decision of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and allow the LGs to exercise their autonomy in managing their own affairs.
The pre-action notice serves as a formal warning to SUBEB, giving them one month to comply with the request and cease the recruitment process. Failure to do so may result in legal action being taken against the KWSG and SUBEB.
