Hon. Iliasu Moro, Alhaji Shola Muse, Adegogo’s Ordeal: One Thing We Must Beg Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq For!
By Comrade Mashood Lanrey Osho
Fellow Kwaran, the recent arrest and detention of Alhaji Shola Muse, Hon. Iliasu Moro, and Adegogo at Oke‑Kura prison in ilorin follows their outburst on “Ariselarika” Radio program at Radio SBS FM anchor by Adegogo. The three defendants are facing charges related to statements allegedly made during their appearance on the program, in which they claimed that the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, was awarded an $800 million contract by his brother , an allegation said to be false and defamatory. The case is expected to resume on February 25, 2026.
I would first like to address the authenticity of these allegations. Looking at the huge amount of an $800 million contract, converting it to Nigerian Naira yields approximately ₦1.2 trillion (using an exchange rate of ₦1,500 to $1). From my perspective, since the day that statement was made on Radio SBS, it has lacked factual basis. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could not have awarded such a project to Dr. Alimi, especially when projects of such magnitude are typically awarded before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting?
Thus, let me ask that when was the project awarded at FEC that we didn’t aware and none of the daily newspapers published it?Even projects like the Lagos‑Calabar coastal project and others have been heavily discussed on National television program and criticized which subjected to scrutiny. How could Dr. Alimi have received such a project without it being published, and discussed on National TV program, criticized and monitored for transparency?
I understand that Alhaji Shola Muse and Adegogo may not have been fully aware of the project details. It was Hon. Iliasu Moro who made the statement and insisted he had facts, despite Adegogo, as the program’s anchor, repeatedly questioning its truthfulness during the broadcast. Alhaji Shola Muse seemed to be pushing Hon Iliasu to reveal more with fact.
One thing about Hon. Iliasu Moro is that is an elderly person, an extroverts for that matter, and a die-hard APC card-carrying member, though he is an aggrieved party member who many see as using the program to vent his anger and criticize the government of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for sidelining him or other things that only him and APC in kwara state can explained better. On the other hand, Adegogo and Alhaji Shola Muse are not politicians and did not take note of these dynamics, which resulted in their now being sent to Oke‑Kura prison.
Alhaji Shola Muse is an extrovert too and always pours out his mind, just like me. While on radio programs, speaking on issues without facts would definitely result in court cases. That’s why I hardly speak on issues without facts . I don’t do it and I will never subscribe to it. Most of my programs are always data-driven, sensitization-focused, involving petitions to anti-corruption agencies, and reeling out information from documents. I have always restricted myself from speaking without facts.
Adegogo, as an anchor and radio presenter for many years, has always been careful in choosing his words and regulating his guests’ statements. Though on this matter he tried to caution Hon. Iliasu Moro, Baba insisted that he had facts. The fact is, he should have asked or engaged him after the program and done the balancing in the following week to prevent a situation like this, But I know this event will never occur again.
As a human rights activist, investigative journalist, anti‑corruption crusader, author, and public policy analyst, we do a delicate and risky job. We expose government wrongdoing, drag them to court, and discuss such issues on all media platforms. That’s why the government always sees us as enemies, and that’s why we must be careful that what we release or say is fact‑based. We have always prepared for court cases, but when it’s based on facts, the government would never come out to sue for lacking evidence.
I have been lied against and petitioned to the EFCC to frame me up and lock me up because of my sincerity of purpose. The information kicked out to me, and their efforts were rendered useless. When you do things with a clean mind, you will always be set free from any plot against you. Every government has always planned to frame me up, but I always say to myself that sincerity would always set me free.
Yes, Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman “GAA” is not directly involved and he doesn’t have a hand in it, but let’s beg him for one important thing. he is a governor for all, whether you’re from civil society organizations, media, Analyst on Radio stations, traditional rulers ,Muslims or Christians living in Kwara State, and indigenes of Kwara State.
Let’s beg Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman to help us plead with Dr Alimi Abdulrasaq to let it slide we knew it’s a mistake from their side.they have learned in hard way they should be forgiven.
Thus,It would be on record that they were sent to Oke‑Kura prison while he is in government. I can remember vividly that during Governor Lawal’s tenure, his feud with late Baba Saraki, while seeking reelection, despite being attacked and called different names by Baba Saraki’s loyalist lawal didn’t make any arrest or send anyone into prison and he has that power to do so before handling over to Senator Bukola Saraki.he can caused crises deal with those that against him but decide to let it slides as a retired military officer we all know how they act and behave when got angry.
Some politicians tend to politicize sensitive issues, such as the Offa robbery incident, making unsubstantiated allegations against Senator Saraki. Despite the lack of evidence, these allegations can be damaging. Eventually, he was vindicated, and those who politicized the issue face no consequences from him he can sue them but he decide not to .
The current situation facing former Governor El-Rufai serves as a stark reminder that power is transient. One who holds high office today, having navigated the corridors of power with great influence, may find the table turned tomorrow. It highlights the unpredictable nature of politics, where today’s adversary could be tomorrow’s ally, and reinforces the importance of humility, as those in government may one day need the very people they sent to Oke kura prison.
A similar situation occurred when Femi Adesina launched his book, “Working with Buhari.” During the event, then-Vice President professor Yemi Osinbajo recounted how some politicians had made false allegations against him, prompting him to consider taking legal action. President Buhari advised him to let the matter go, citing his own experience with false allegations, fabricated a story that he is getting married with his minister at the Abuja National Mosque.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also faced similar treatment, with humble respected senior comrade Omoyele Sowore making derogatory remarks. However, Tinubu has taken a more measured approach, focusing on his duties to the country.Governor Abdulrahm Abdulrasaq should intervene immediately by pleading with Dr Alimi Abdulrasaq to let the matter slides not all issues ought to be responding to.
Let me add that before the 2015 election, former President Jonathan remarked that he was the most criticized president in the world, having been called names like a ‘kindergarten president.’ In his book, My Transition Hours, he highlighted how Boko Haram was used as a political tool against his government. He famously said that if he had decided to arrest and detain everyone who made negative statements or lied about him, many of those in government today would not be there.
While I maintain that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has no hand in this current issue, we must ask him to intervene and plead with Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq to let the matter slide. It is inevitable that the Governor’s name will continue to be mentioned since his elder brother is the one who dragged the three of them to court, leading to them being remanded in Oke-kura prison for libel. As the Yoruba adage goes, ‘Gbogbo eye ko lasokomo’ (not all birds that fly before us should be stoned) it implies we should not react to everything. Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq should just act as if he didn’t see it.
Kwara onibaje ooooo.
Signed
