IEDPU Sends Strong warning to Kwara North over Criticism of Governor AbdulRazaq
Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the good people of Ilorin Emirate, has advised the good people of the state and other stakeholders to discountenance the position of the so-called Kwara North Development Commission (KNDC) on the decision of the Sarduana of Ilorin and Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, to ensure the completion of the ongoing Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Skills Acquisition Centre.
The Union, in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Abubakar Imam, on behalf of its National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, said that the statement of the KNDC on the issue was divisive and ill-advised.
Alhaji Abdulmalik said that it was surprising that a development-oriented group could condemn the patriotic disposition of the Governor instead of commending him for throwing his weight behind such a human development project that was designed to serve not just the interest of the people of Ilorin Emirate but all residents of Ilorin, the state capital.
The Union said that if the Governor’s completion of the Shonga Innovation Hub in the Edu Local Government Area and his donation of hundreds of computers to the CBT Centre, Igbaja in the Ifelodun Local Government Area, in the Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts of the State, respectively, attracted applause why should his intention on a similar project located in Ilorin (where it will serve Kwarans and more) attracts negative comments?
He asked “who told KNDC that the Governor would not complete the project from his personal/family resources in the same manner he and his family members have been assisting the Union over the years?
The statement advised KNDC, groups and other individuals to thread softly and not do anything that will jeopardize the age-long good relationship between the peoples of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara North Senatorial District.
Signed:
Abubakar Imam,
National Secretary,
Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union.
