KWSG continues stakeholders engagement to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, Engages IEYDA for enhanced collaboration.

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Environment, is continuing its comprehensive stakeholders engagement to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across the state. This initiative is designed to foster collaboration and collective responsibility among various community groups, ensuring sustainable environmental practices that contribute to the overall well-being and socioeconomic prosperity of Kwara State.

Today, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, along with key staff from the ministry, including the Permanent Secretary, met with the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), a prominent youth community development organization. The organization was represented by its president, Babatunde Abdullah, Public Relations Officer, Muhammed Uthman Jagunma and some other members.

In her address, Honourable Commissioner Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge highlighted the critical role that youth play in environmental conservation and the importance of their active involvement in the Ministry’s initiatives. She stated, “Youth are the backbone of our community, and their engagement is vital in our efforts to achieve a Clean and Green Kwara. We are here to listen, collaborate, and work together towards our shared goal of a sustainable and healthy environment.”

The meeting centered on strategies to enhance environmental cleanliness and mobilize youth participation in maintaining a cleaner state. The IEYDA representatives expressed their commitment to supporting the Ministry’s initiatives and assured their active participation in promoting environmental sustainability.

Babatunde Abdullah, president of IEYDA, emphasized the organization’s dedication to the development of Ilorin and Kwara State. He said, “We are committed to any efforts that will assure the development of our state capital, Ilorin, and Kwara at large. We will fully support the Ministry’s initiatives and work alongside them to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for all.”

The Honourable Commissioner reiterated the importance of adhering to environmental laws and the need for continuous sensitization on proper waste disposal practices. She also discussed the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to establish refuse collection centers at strategic locations to curb indiscriminate dumping.

The Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Ayinla, in his remarks, acknowledged the support of the youth organization and urged them to be ambassadors of environmental cleanliness within their communities. He stated, “Your support and active involvement are crucial in our mission to keep Kwara clean and green. Together, we can make a significant impact.”

This engagement is part of a broader initiative by the Kwara State Government to involve all community stakeholders in environmental conservation efforts. The Ministry plans to continue these engagements with various groups, including educational campaigns on waste management and eco-friendly practices.

The Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led government remains dedicated to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous state through collaborative efforts with its citizens. By working together, we can build a sustainable future for Kwara State.
