Oyo L.G Chairmen dump ALGON, Form new association amidst Supreme Court’s Financial Autonomy judgement
The 33 local government chairmen in Oyo State have decided to withdraw from the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) due to the Supreme Court’s recent judgment granting financial autonomy to councils across the country.
This decision comes as a response to the court’s ruling, which has significantly altered the financial landscape of local governments in Nigeria.
The local government chairmen believe that the establishment of a new association will enable them to continue serving the people of the state at the grassroots level effectively.
By forming this new association, they hope to maintain their ability to deliver essential services to the citizens, despite the changes brought about by the Supreme Court’s judgment.
The new association will be registered under the relevant laws of Nigeria, ensuring its legal status and allowing the chairmen to continue their work on behalf of the people.
This move reflects the chairmen’s commitment to serving the local communities and upholding their responsibilities, even in the face of significant changes in the financial structure of local governments in the country.
