Kawu’s Movement Disowns Controversial Article, Reaffirms Loyalty, Calls for Unity

The Suleiman Kale Kawu (SKK) Movement has dismissed reports attributing a recent political commentary titled “Reality or Illusion: Saraki at a Crossroads in Kwara” to Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Wahab Oba, the group said Engr. Kawu neither authored nor endorsed the article and had no prior knowledge of its contents.
According to the statement, he does not associate himself with the tone, arguments, or conclusions expressed in the publication.

The movement reaffirmed that Engr. Kawu remains a committed and disciplined member of the Peoples Democratic Party, with deep respect for the party’s leadership, structures, and internal democratic processes. It stressed that his political philosophy is anchored on loyalty, humility, and service to the collective interest of the party and the people of Kwara State.

The statement further noted that Engr. Kawu has never sought to undermine party authority, promote division, or question the leadership of respected leadership ably guided by Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Rejecting suggestions of internal rivalry, the SKK Movement said Engr. Kawu does not subscribe to narratives that pit party members against one another or frame consultations as a contest between loyalty and popularity. Rather, it maintained that he believes the strength of the PDP lies in unity, mutual respect, and collective effort.

It added that Engr. Kawu recognises the sacrifices of party elders and stakeholders who have sustained the PDP in Kwara over the years, including Prof. Ali Ahmed, and remains appreciative of their contributions.

According to the statement, while public debates and political reflections have their place in democratic discourse, this is not the time for speculative analyses capable of deepening mistrust or fuelling unnecessary tensions within the party.

“The present moment demands solidarity, discipline, and focus on the common objective of returning the PDP to power in Kwara State,” the statement said.

The movement therefore urged party members and supporters to disregard any attempt, whether deliberate or accidental, to associate Engr. Kawu with divisive commentaries. It reaffirmed his alignment with the PDP leadership and his commitment to working with all aspirants and party organs in a spirit of cooperation and respect.

It also stressed that loyalty in politics, according to Engr. Kawu, is demonstrated through respect for party decisions, obedience to constituted authority, and readiness to support whoever emerges as the party’s standard bearer.

At this critical stage, the SKK Movement called on PDP stakeholders in Kwara to close ranks, rise above personal sentiments, and present a united front to the electorate, describing internal harmony and strategic coordination as essential for electoral success.

“Engr. Kawu stands for peace, loyalty, and progress. He stands with the PDP and with all efforts aimed at strengthening the party for victory,” the statement concluded.

The movement expressed confidence that, through unity, discipline, and mutual respect, the PDP would remain competitive and achieve success in future elections in the state.
