NPFL seeks sponsors to acquire VAR

The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League Gbenga Elegbeleye has disclosed that the league body is actively seeking sponsors to procure Video Assistant Referee machines for the Nigerian topflight.

Although the machines are expensive, we are prepared to adopt VAR technology, which necessitates training personnel to handle the equipment.

Recently, the Nigeria Football Federation selected 10 of our computer-literate referees to undergo training in Morocco. Furthermore, we conducted an online meeting with VAR manufacturers and producers to discuss the requirements for implementation, including the need for effective communication and reliance on technical support for decision-making purposes.
