APC Vows Nationwide Protests if Wike Remains FCT Minister
Leaders and support groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have issued an ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu, demanding the removal of Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister, warning that failure to act could spark nationwide protests.
The protest, organized by the APC Leaders Forum and the Tinubu/Shettima Solidarity Movement, took place in Abuja, where participants marched to the party secretariat with placards and a letter demanding Wike’s immediate removal. They accused Wike of anti-party conduct, insubordination, and undermining party unity.
According to the groups, Wike’s recent comments criticizing party officials and interfering in Rivers State politics threaten the APC’s cohesion and 2027 electoral prospects.
The coalition vowed to escalate demonstrations across states and local governments nationwide until the demand is met.
This confrontation highlights rising tensions within the APC, as Wike a former PDP governor continues to clash with party loyalists despite his ministerial appointment. Party sources say the issue could influence strategic moves ahead of the 2027 elections.
