African Democratic Congress Campaign Council: Former Kwara Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Hon Amuda Kannike get key National roles

The ADC Presidential Campaign Council of H. E Atiku Abubakar has appointed two prominent Kwara political figures, His Excellency Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed and Hon. Abubakar Amuda-Kannike, in key positions as part of its national campaign structure for the 2027 presidential election.

The former Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has been appointed Senior Campaign Adviser, while Hon. Abubakar Amuda-Kannike, former member of the House of Representatives, has been appointed Head of General Services under the Administration Directorate

The appointments bring significant governance and political experience from Kwara into the national presidential campaign structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed served as Governor of Kwara State from 2011 to 2019, after previously serving as Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development and subsequently Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development. During his tenure as Commissioner, he was also involved in the state’s budget formulation and economic management structures.

His experience therefore spans economic management, public administration, executive governance and state-level leadership, making his appointment to the senior advisory team a significant addition to the campaign’s national leadership structure.

Hon. Abubakar Amuda-Kannike brings another dimension of political and legislative experience. He previously served as a Special Assistant on Agriculture, Commissioner for Water Resources and Sports/Youth Development, and Commissioner for Works and Transport in Kwara State before representing Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.

His appointment as Head of General Services places his organisational and administrative experience within the machinery responsible for coordinating the campaign’s national administration.

The two appointments are part of a broader campaign structure drawing experienced political leaders, administrators, professionals and technocrats from across Nigeria. The Council includes representatives and campaign personnel working across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

For Kwara, the appointments place two experienced political figures from the state within strategic positions in a national presidential campaign.

Their participation is expected to add to the campaign’s pool of governance experience, political organisation and administrative capacity, as the Atiku Abubakar campaign develops its structures and engages stakeholders across the country.

The campaign’s leadership includes Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman and Senator Austin Akobundu as Director-General/Campaign Manager, alongside senior advisers and directors responsible for various aspects of the national campaign.
