PDP Ilorin West Mega Rally: Supporters, Elders Troop Out in Large Numbers as Party Takes Campaign to Major Streets in Ilorin
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State took its campaign to major streets across the Ilorin metropolis during its mega rally, attracting an impressive turnout of supporters, party elders, and sympathisers.
The mega rally, organised by the PDP in Ilorin West under the leadership of its Chairman, Hon. AbdulKadir Issa, commenced at Omada Roundabout and proceeded to Alore, around the Ile Oloriegbe axis.
The procession also moved through Abayawo, Adabata, Pakata Roundabout, Ode Alfa Nda, and other areas within Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The strength, energy, and enthusiasm displayed by party members and supporters were remarkable, as they actively participated in the rally throughout the procession.
Speaking at the rally, the Kwara Central Senatorial Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ishiaq Tunde Owolabi, popularly known as Oba Ilukan, expressed appreciation for the massive turnout, describing it as an indication that Kwarans had rejected what he termed the “tyrannical government” of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further disclosed that the participants had voluntarily turned out for the rally without being mobilised.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman in Ilorin West Local Government Area, Hon. AbdulKadir Issa, said the rally attracted not only party members but also commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada riders, tricycle operators, commercial drivers, and other residents.
In his remarks, the PDP candidate for the Ilorin West and North State Constituency, Hon. Tunji Abdulhameed, unequivocally declared that the party remained firmly on the ground.
He said the impressive turnout demonstrated the people’s readiness to support the PDP and work towards removing the APC from power in the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, the PDP candidate for the Ilorin Central State Constituency, Hon. Uthman Babatunde, expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout, expressing optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.
Political rallies are a key part of electoral mobilisation and political parties’ efforts to garner public support. However, the scale of participation witnessed at the PDP rally appears to be raising the political stakes in Kwara State, as the main opposition party continues to demonstrate its presence and seek greater support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
