Wike Defends Rainbow Coalition, Reaffirms Backing for Tinubu in 2027

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, on Monday reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, stating that the Rainbow Coalition was established to mobilise support for the President rather than weaken the All Progressives Congress (APC)..

The minister said his immediate political focus ahead of the 2027 general elections was to ensure that Tinubu secured another term in office, maintaining that he had been clear about his support for the President from the beginning.

Wike spoke after inspecting the ongoing ISEX 2 project, the Southern Parkway project and the road linking Nile University to Ring Road 3 in Lugbe, Abuja.

During the inspection, the minister also addressed questions surrounding his political activities and the disagreements that have emerged between members of the Rainbow Coalition and some APC governors.

Wike said his position on Tinubu’s 2027 re-election had not changed, stressing that his major concern at the moment was to support the President’s bid for a second term.

He maintained that his involvement in the political platform was connected to that objective.

The minister’s comments came against the backdrop of disagreements between supporters of the Rainbow Coalition and members of the APC Progressive Governors Forum over the structure and purpose of the political arrangement.
