Subsidy Removal and Tax Reforms Bill – Policies Inimical to Northern Region People

The Arewa Unity Forum, in its unwavering commitment to the well-being and prosperity of the Northern Region, strongly condemns the subsidy removal and Tax Reforms Bill. These policies, in our considered opinion, are deliberately designed to cripple the socio-economic fabric of our communities.

We are dismayed by the sheer audacity of the presidency’s insistence on implementing these policies, despite widespread opposition from our people. The Arewa Unity Forum views this as a blatant disregard for the welfare and aspirations of Northern Region people.

We urge the RT. Hon. Speaker, Tajuddeen Abbas, to reconsider his stance on these policies. As a representative of our people, it is his sacred duty to champion our interests and protect our welfare. If he is unable or unwilling to do so, we implore him to step aside and allow others who are genuinely committed to our cause to take the lead.

The Arewa Unity Forum warns that the implementation of these policies will have far-reaching and devastating consequences for our people. We will not stand idly by while our communities are pauperized and our future prospects are mortgaged. We urge our people to remain vigilant and to hold their representatives accountable for supporting policies that are inimical to our interests.

We emphasize that leadership and governance should be exercised with sincerity, transparency, and accountability. Unfortunately, the presidency’s actions demonstrate a glaring lack of focus, vision, honesty, truth, love, and respect for human dignity.

We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his supporters to reconsider their stance and prioritize the wishes and aspirations of our people. Failure to do so will inevitably lead to a loss of support and credibility, jeopardizing their chances in the 2027 election.

In conclusion, the Arewa Unity Forum reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the welfare and prosperity of Northern Region people. We will continue to advocate for policies and programs that promote our interests and safeguard our future.
