Ten Hag decision ‘not my call’ – Ratcliffe

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says the future of Erik ten Hag, the under-pressure manager, is not his call.

Billionaire Ratcliffe has taken control of football operations at Old Trafford since February, and in July, the club triggered a one-year extension for Ten Hag’s contract.

However, due to the difficult start to the campaign, Ratcliffe says the United hierarchy he has put in place must “take stock and make some sensible decisions”.

When asked if he still has faith in former Ajax boss Ten Hag, Ratcliffe told BBC Sport: “I don’t want to answer that question.”

Ratcliffe made these comments after watching Ineos Britannia become the first British sailing team to reach the America’s Cup final since 1964 on Friday, and a day after 10-man United threw away a two-goal lead but drew 3-3 with Porto for the Europa League

United have won only three of their first 10 matches this season and are winless in four games in all competitions before visiting Aston Villa for the Premier League on Sunday
