APC Reps Aspirant, Olesin, Denies Stepping Down Rumours, Reaffirms Commitment to Race

An aspirant for the House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency, Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Olesin Tajudeen Shola (Ph.D), has dismissed rumours alleging that he has stepped down for another contender ahead of the party’s primary election.

In a statement made available to party members and supporters, Olesin described the reports as “false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to create confusion among APC members and the general public.”

The APC aspirant stated that he remains fully in the race and committed to his aspiration to represent the people of Ilorin East and Ilorin South at the House of Representatives.

“By the grace of Almighty Allah, I remain fully in the race and strongly committed to this aspiration,” he declared.

According to him, the spread of the rumour is linked to the growing popularity and grassroots acceptance his campaign has continued to enjoy across the constituency.

“The growing acceptance, popularity, and grassroots momentum of this movement have clearly unsettled some interests, hence the desperate attempt to spread misinformation,” he said.

Olesin maintained that his ambition goes beyond personal interest, stressing that it is driven by the encouragement and support of people who have identified with his years of community service, educational interventions, empowerment programmes, party loyalty, and grassroots development efforts.

He added that many residents believe his emergence would strengthen representation and accelerate development within the constituency.

The aspirant therefore appealed to registered APC members across Ilorin East and Ilorin South to participate peacefully in the party’s direct primary election and support his candidacy.

“Your vote is not just support for an individual; it is a vote for people-oriented politics, effective representation, responsive leadership, and stronger grassroots inclusion,” he stated.

Olesin also pledged support for the progressive agenda of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, promising effective legislation, responsible oversight, and impactful representation if elected.

He urged supporters not to be distracted by rumours or propaganda, expressing confidence that victory would be achieved through the support of the people.
